Toasters - The Best Guide To The Right Toaster
Electric toasters have been around for a while, but some of the best toasters now have many additional functions that not only help you toast your bread, but can also help you toast bagels, pop tarts, muffins and other assorted items.
They also come in a variety of styles and colors. The plain single-function toaster is still available, but there is so much more choice nowadays for people wishing to toast their bread.
How Do Toasters Work?
Toasters use infrared radiation to heat bread slices or whatever is placed in the toaster. The infrared radiation is produced by the coils located inside the heater (These are the things that appear red when your toaster is working) Nichrome wire wrapped across a mica sheet is one of the most common ways to produce this infrared radiation. A spring-loaded tray pops the toast out when the timer turns the toaster off after the required time.
Toasting bread has been done for thousands of years, but the history of toasters started in 1905, when Albert Marsh discovered that Nichrome could reach high temperatures without being damaged or starting a fire. Shortly afterwards, George Schneider took out a patent for the first electric toaster.
